Trump announced the creation of a US crypto reserve: XRP, Solana and Cardano are a priority
On March 2, 2025, US President Donald Trump announced the creation of a cryptocurrency reserve and directed the Digital Assets Working Group to include XRP, Solana (SOL) and Cardano (ADA) in the country’s strategic cryptocurrency reserve. Additionally, in a follow-up message, Trump added Bitcoin (BTC) and Ether (ETH), emphasizing that they would be the “heart of the reserve.” This statement was an important step in the implementation of his election promises to support the cryptocurrency industry.
Trump Initiative Details
Earlier in his speech at the Bitcoin 2024 conference in Nashville, Trump promised to create a “strategic national stockpile of Bitcoin,” saying:
“My administration’s policy will be to retain 100% of the bitcoins the US government owns or acquires in the future.”
However, the latest announcement expands on this plan by adding other key cryptocurrencies. The editors of CryptoInside believe that the inclusion of XRP, Solana (SOL) and Cardano (ADA) reflects the administration’s desire to diversify the reserve and support American blockchain projects.
As part of the executive order signed earlier, the task force is also exploring the possibility of creating a regulatory framework for stablecoins and officially bans the development of a central bank digital currency (CBDC) in the United States. This decision underscores the move towards decentralization and support for private digital assets.
Crypto market reaction to the news
After Trump’s announcement, the prices of the mentioned cryptocurrencies rose sharply: XRP added more than 30%, Solana – about 20%, and Cardano jumped almost 60%. Bitcoin and Ether also showed growth of 10% and 15% respectively. CryptoInside analysts note that such a move could strengthen institutional acceptance of cryptocurrencies and strengthen the US position as a leader in the industry.
On March 7, the White House will host the first crypto summit, where Trump, along with industry leaders and a working group, will discuss the future of cryptocurrency regulation in the United States. The event is expected to shed light on further steps to implement the reserve.
