TON leads in NFT trading volume

Telegram founder Pavel Durov announced that the TON blockchain took first place in the world in terms of daily trading volume of non-fungible tokens (NFTs). He announced this on his social networks, citing data from the Dune analytical platform.

According to Durov, when only on-chain transactions are taken into account, TON is inferior to the leader, Ethereum. He emphasized that the success of TON is associated with the growing popularity of collectible NFT gifts on Telegram, such as Plush Pepe, Durov’s Cap and Precious Peach. Over the past month, the price of these assets has increased several times. The data is confirmed by the TON Foundation dashboard on the Dune platform, which tracks trading volumes.

TON, integrated with the Telegram ecosystem, is actively developing the NFT market with built-in functions such as sending and purchasing collectible gifts. The rise in popularity of these assets highlights the potential of blockchain as a platform for mass adoption of cryptocurrency technologies.

In my opinion, Durov’s statement reflects TON’s ambitions to become a key player in the NFT space, relying on Telegram’s huge audience. However, dependence on off-chain transactions may raise questions about data transparency. If TON is able to strengthen its position in on-chain trading, this could significantly affect the competition with Ethereum.

News highlights:

  • Pavel Durov called TON the leader in daily NFT trading volume, taking into account off-chain transactions.
  • When only on-chain transactions are taken into account, TON is inferior to Ethereum.
  • The price of NFT gifts on Telegram has increased several times in a month, according to Dune data.
